Sylvia Sidney
Biography
Sylvia Sidney was born Sophia Kosow in 1910 to a Romanian Jewish family in New York City, and was adopted by her stepfather Sigmund Sidney at age three. She began acting at 15 to overcome shyness, studying at the Theater Guild's School for Acting, where critics praised her performances. Sidney gained recognition in the 1930s with leading roles, later earning a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Juno in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice.
