Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara Maitland (Geena Davis), a newly deceased couple, seek help from Betelgeuse, a deranged demon exorcist, to scare an affluent New York family out of their home in Winter River, Connecticut. They find themselves sentenced to "haunting" their former house where they try to scare the new wannabe swank couple, but their Goth daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) is more curious than scared. Michael Keaton plays the eponymous madcap "bio-exorcist".
