Shu Kei
Biography
Shu Kei, born Kenneth Ip in 1956, began writing film criticism as a secondary school student and went on to major in English at the University of Hong Kong. He founded Film Biweekly Magazine and directed his debut feature Sealed with a Kiss in 1981, which marked a refreshing departure from Hong Kong's usual genre fare. Shu's subsequent films, including Soul (1986) and Hu-Du-Men (1996), showcased his ability to balance artistry with social commentary.
