In 1982, Taiwan was still under martial law, but a group of filmmakers from the country, including Hou Hsiao-hsien, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Olivier Assayas, and Hirokazu Kore-eda, set out to establish a cultural identity through cinema and share it with the world. This documentary explores the movement's legacy and its impact on Taiwanese culture. Ai Weiwei also appears as himself in the film, which was written in French, English, Japanese, Thai, and Mandarin. The film, "Flowers of Taipei - Taiwan New Cinema", is a 109-minute documentary that provides insight into the country's filmmaking history.
