Boris Kokovkin was a Soviet actor and theatre director born on October 8, 1910, in Petrovsk-Port, Dagestan. He began his career on stage in Vladikavkaz and Dnepropetrovsk theatres before serving with the theatres of Leningrad. In film, he made his debut in 1952 with a role in "Rimsky-Korsakov," earning an award at the Cannes Film Festival for "Big Family" (1955).
