Elaine Iva May (born April 21, 1932) is a renowned American actress, comedian, writer, and director. She first gained fame in the 1950s with her improvisational comedy routines alongside Mike Nichols before transitioning to writing and directing critically acclaimed films. A trailblazer in the industry, she has received numerous awards, including a BAFTA Award, Grammy Award, and Tony Award, as well as an Honorary Academy Award in 2022.
