Saranya Ponvannan, born Sheela Christina, is an Indian actress who made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam's Nayakan (1987) as the female lead opposite Kamal Haasan. She returned to films after an eight-year sabbatical and gained critical acclaim for her supporting roles, including three Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress. She has received numerous accolades, including a National Film Award for Best Actress, and continues to work in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films.
