Luc Bondy was a Swiss theatre and film director born on July 17, 1948. He gained recognition for his work in "Marianne & Juliane" (1981), before taking over as the artistic director at the Schaubühne in Berlin in 1985. Bondy also directed notable productions at the Salzburg Festival and Vienna Festival, including a notorious Tosca staging that received negative reviews at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 2009.
