Marianne & Juliane

The film "Marianne & Juliane" (1981) is a drama about two sisters who fight for women's civil rights in different ways. The story is interspersed with flashbacks of their childhood. Juliane (Jutta Lampe), a committed journalist, and her sister Marianne (Barbara Sukowa), a member of a violent revolutionary terrorist group, are repeatedly at odds due to their opposing views on the movement. Despite this, Juliane continues to support her sister, even when she is arrested and put in isolation jail. As Juliane delves deeper into understanding her sister's actions, she uncovers a dark truth that ultimately destroys her relationships with those around her.
