John Cater

Biography

John Edward Cater was born on January 17, 1932, in Hendon, north London, to a family of performers and gardeners. He trained at RADA alongside notable alumni including Joe Orton, Joan Collins, Peter O'Tool and Albert Finney. Cater began his professional career with the Dundee Repertory Theatre before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1961. His notable performances include Professor Hieronymous Grost in "Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter" (1974) and Superintendent Waverley in "The Abominable Dr. Phibes".
