Biography

Magda Vášáryová is a Slovak politician and former actress who began her acting career at 15 in the film Senzi Mama (1964). She has had a distinguished diplomatic career, serving as Czech-Slovak ambassador to Austria from 1990-1993 and Slovakia's ambassador to Poland from 2000-2005. Vášáryová also ran for president of Slovakia in 1999, winning 6.6% of the vote, and was recognized with the Hanno R. Ellenbogen Prize for Civil Service in 2016.
