Timothy Richard "Tim" Shadbolt was a New Zealand politician and mayor of Waitemata City and Invercargill, serving for over 32 years, making him one of the longest-serving mayors in New Zealand history. He was a prominent figure in the Progressive Youth Movement and was arrested 33 times during political protests in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Shadbolt was also a key figure in Invercargill, becoming a national icon during his tenure.
