Ingmar Bergman was a Swedish filmmaker and theatre director widely considered one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers of all time. His films are known as profoundly personal meditations into the struggles facing the psyche and soul. Notable works include The Seventh Seal, Persona, Fanny and Alexander, and Shame, which garnered international acclaim and Academy Award wins. Bergman's creative partnership with cinematographers Gunnar Fischer and Sven Nykvist helped shape his distinctive style.
