Biography

Rupert Davies was a British actor best known for his iconic role as Maigret in the BBC's 1960s television adaptation of Georges Simenon's novels. A decorated war hero, he served with the Fleet Air Arm during WWII and survived three failed escape attempts from Stalag Luft III. After the war, Davies quickly resumed his acting career, appearing in numerous plays and series, including Quatermass II and Ivanhoe.
