Vera Ralston

Biography

Vera Ralston was a Czech and American figure skater and actress born Věra Helena Hrubá in Prague to a Catholic family. She competed at the 1936 European Figure Skating Championships and 1936 Winter Olympics, where she famously insulted Adolf Hitler before placing 15th and 17th respectively. After emigrating to the US in 1941, Ralston became a naturalized citizen and began her acting career with Republic Pictures, starring in films such as "The Fighting Kentuckian" and "Fair Wind to Java".
