Biography

Philippe Petit is a French highwire artist born on August 13, 1949. He gained fame for his unauthorized highwire walks between the towers of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris (1971), Sydney Harbour Bridge (1973), and World Trade Center's Twin Towers in New York City (1974). Since then, Petit has performed wire walking globally, teaching workshops and living as artist-in-residence at St. John the Divine Cathedral.
