Biography

Carl Gottlieb is an American screenwriter, actor, comedian, and executive born on March 18, 1938, in New York City to a middle-class Jewish family. He gained recognition for co-writing the screenplay for Jaws (1975) and its sequels, as well as directing the cult film Caveman (1981). Gottlieb's writing credits also include notable TV shows like The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and All in the Family, earning him an Emmy Award in 1969.
