Judy Holliday was a versatile American actress and comedian who got her start in nightclub acts before transitioning to Broadway plays and musicals. Her breakout role as Billie Dawn in the 1946 stage production of Born Yesterday led to a film adaptation, earning her an Academy Award for Best Actress and a Golden Globe Award. She also won a Tony Award for her performance in Bells Are Ringing and continued to act until her untimely death from breast cancer in 1965.
