Sarah Edwards

Biography

Sarah Edwards was a Welsh-born American actress who began her career as a stage performer in West End theatre and later transitioned to Broadway, starring in six comedies between 1919 and 1931. She made her film debut in the 1929 musical Glorifying the American Girl and went on to appear in over 190 movies, often playing roles of elderly or strict authority figures. Edwards is perhaps best-known for her iconic portrayal of Mary Hatch's mother in Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life (1946).
