Susan Jane Backlinie was a former American actress and stuntwoman born on September 1, 1946. She gained recognition for her role as Chrissie Watkins in Steven Spielberg's blockbuster Jaws (1975), becoming the first shark attack victim to appear on screen. A native of Florida, she had a varied early life, working as a mermaid and performing with wild animals before pursuing an acting career.
