Biography

Pavel Luspekayev was a Soviet actor born in Luhansk in 1927. He joined the Soviet partisans at 16 and fought with the 3rd Ukrainian Front during WWII, later suffering severe frostbite and being demobilized in 1944. Luspekayev attended the Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theatre School in Moscow, graduating in 1950, before performing at prominent theaters including Leningrad's Bolshoi Drama Theatre. He posthumously received the State Prize of the Russian Federation in 1997.
