Louise Beavers

Biography

Louise Beavers was an American film and television actress who appeared in dozens of films and two hit television shows from the 1920s to 1960. She broke through as a breakthrough actress for black women, playing roles that were rare for African-American actresses at the time. Her most notable role was in "Imitation of Life" (1934), where she played Delilah in a dramatic and positive portrayal of a black woman's experiences.
