Biography

Miguel Piñero was a Puerto Rican playwright, actor, and co-founder of the Nuyorican Poets Café. Born in Gurabo, Puerto Rico in 1946, he moved to New York City's Lower East Side at age four with his family. A member of the Nuyorican literary movement, Piñero is known for his notable roles in "Fort Apache the Bronx" (1981), "Times Square" (1980), and "The Jericho Mile" (1979).
