Biography

Severn Darden was a founding member of The Second City Chicago-based comedy troupe and its predecessor, the Compass Players. He was known for his influential live comedy improv skit as "Walther von der Vogelweide" and played human leader Kolp in the fourth and fifth Planet of the Apes films. As an improviser, he was a pioneering figure, prefiguring Jim Belushi and Chris Farley with his bold style.
