Enemy at the Gates

Enemy at the Gates takes place in the last four months of 1942 during the pivotal Battle of Stalingrad, where Russian troops are carted into the city by trainloads as the Germans attack and bomb it. A lowly young Russian soldier named Vassili distinguishes himself for his shooting skills and is promoted to a national hero to motivate the Russian cause. As the situation settles into a more personal battle of sharpshooting wills, Vassili faces off against Major Erwin König, a ruthless Wehrmacht sniper school director who is determined to kill him and crush Soviet morale.
