Matthias Habich is a German actor born on January 12, 1940, in Danzig (now Gdańsk, Poland). With over 110 film and television credits since 1965, he has appeared in internationally recognized films such as Enemy at the Gates (2001), where he played General Friedrich Paulus, Downfall (2004), and The Reader (2008), for which he portrayed the father of Kate Winslet's title character. Habich lives in Paris.
