On a hot summer day in a predominantly black neighborhood in Brooklyn, a chain of events is set off by one person making the wrong decision, resulting in havoc. Spike Lee's breakthrough film tells the stylish and spirited story of a community in New York City, blending drama, humor, entertainment, honesty, and tragedy. The film explores the simmering racial tension between its African-American residents and the Italian-American owners of a local pizzeria, culminating in tragedy and violence on a sweltering day.
