"The Last Movie" (1971) is a drama film directed by and starring Dennis Hopper as Kansas, a stunt coordinator who quits his job on a western movie set in Peru to stay behind after an actor's tragic death. He soon becomes embroiled with the local villagers, who are recreating their own violent movies using makeshift cameras made of sticks. The film explores themes of fiction versus reality through its non-linear storytelling and experimental cinematography, featuring Hopper alongside Stella Garcia as Maria, Don Gordon as Neville, Julie Adams as Mrs. Anderson, and Roy Engel as Harry Anderson.
