The Sicilian

In 1950s Sicily, bandit Salvatore Giuliano leads a populist movement for independence from Italian rule, robbing from the rich landowners to give to the peasants, who hail him as their savior. As his popularity grows, so does his ego, leading to a confrontation with Mafia Don Masino Croce and an assassination attempt on his life. The film follows Giuliano's struggle against the Church, the Mafia, and the landed gentry in this epic historical crime drama about Sicilian independence.
