Poor Boy's Game

Poor Boy's Game is a 2007 Canadian drama film directed by Clement Virgo, co-written with Nova Scotian writer/director Chaz Thorne. The story follows Donnie Rose (Rossif Sutherland), a former boxer released from prison after serving time for a vicious assault on a Black teen that left the teen physically and mentally disabled. George Carvery (Danny Glover) confronts Donnie at his brother Keith Rose's (Greg Bryk) house, where Keith had previously given a hero's welcome to Donnie upon his release. The film explores themes of class struggle, racial tensions, and redemption as Donnie is challenged to a boxing match by Ossie Paris (Flex Alexander), with George offering to train him in hopes of seeking retribution for the attack that left his son Charles disabled.
