Swades

A successful Non-Resident Indian scientist returns home to his village to take his beloved nanny back to America with him, only to rediscover his roots in a journey of self-discovery and community empowerment. He becomes deeply concerned about Kaveri Amma, the nanny who raised him during his childhood, and reunites with her in a remote village named Charanpur. There, he learns about the struggles of deep-seated caste segregation and religious biases, and decides to assist his friend Geeta in actively campaigning for the education of girls and marginalized communities.
