Ernest Goes to Camp

Ernest P. Worrell (Jim Varney), a lovable loser who works as a summer camp handyman and dreams of becoming a guidance counselor, must find a way to inspire a group of juvenile delinquents while stopping a shady strip mining company from closing the camp as well. Ernest quickly becomes a valuable addition to the staff after demonstrating his skills in Plains Indian Sign Language. A small group of juvenile delinquents, led by Pennington, give Ernest trouble, but they start to show respect during a campfire session when Nurse St. Cloud translates her grandfather's description of an ancient initiation ritual for his tribe. Meanwhile, a mining corporation wants to mine the petrocite at Kikakee, and Ernest unknowingly convinces the Chief to sign away the land under false pretenses. With the help of the Second Chancers, Ernest storms onto the construction site and fights back against the demolition crew, ultimately defeating the villainous Sherman Krader with his signature humor and bravery.
