Joe Versus the Volcano

Joe Versus the Volcano follows Joe Banks (Tom Hanks), a downtrodden everyman from Staten Island who's diagnosed with an incurable disease called a "brain cloud" that will kill him within five or six months. After quitting his job and accepting a proposal to live it up for two weeks, he's offered a chance to jump into a volcano on a Pacific island as part of a superstitious ritual by wealthy industrialist Samuel Graynamore. Joe accepts the offer and embarks on a journey with Patricia (Meg Ryan), a flighty socialite who becomes his love interest.
