A Delicate Balance

In their finely appointed Connecticut home, Agnes and Tobias have grown used to the imperfection and fragility of their marriage. Katharine Hepburn as Agnes helps maintain a delicate balance in their lives, held together by habit, shared memories, and considerable consumption of dry martinis. The seemingly peaceful facade is shattered with the arrival of friends Harry and Edna, who are suddenly overcome with a nameless terror, and Agnes' acerbic alcoholic sister Claire. Their presence leads to a period of self-examination, during which all six are forced to explore their psyches and confront the demons hidden there.
