Laura Jaconi (Vera Farmiga) and her awkward 14-year-old son Henry must drive her irresponsible pot-dealing father Jack (Christopher Plummer) across the country after he's kicked out of yet another nursing home. Along the way, they pick up a stray dog and stop at various locations, including an art forger and a Buddhist colony. As Laura tries to navigate her complicated family dynamics, she's forced to confront her troubled past and learn to set boundaries with those who've hurt her.
