Conquest of Space

In "Conquest of Space," Captain Barney Merritt (Eric Fleming) leads a crew of five astronauts on a mission to Mars after his father, General Samuel T. Merritt (Walter Brooke), is promoted to command the spaceship. As they journey through space, the general's religious beliefs begin to affect his judgment, putting the entire mission at risk. After a violent marsquake strikes, Captain Merritt must take control of the ship to save his crew, leading to a tragic confrontation with his father and ultimately emerging as the hero of the mission.
