Jeremiah Johnson

Hardened after the war with Mexico, and fed up with everyday life, American Jeremiah Johnson leaves civilization behind to live life as a mountain man. He intends to be left alone in the Rocky Mountains, but inadvertently proves himself to be a formidable opponent in one-on-one combat, sparking a long vendetta by Indians who come to respect him. His simple desire for solitude is disrupted when he takes in a woman and her son after they are attacked by Blackfoot warriors, leading him down a path of violence and ultimately, revenge.
