Marie Antoinette

Fourteen-year-old Marie Antoinette, the daughter and youngest child of Holy Roman Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, is a beautiful, charming, and naïve archduchess sent away to wed Louis-Auguste, Dauphin of France, to seal an alliance between their rival countries. She travels to France, relinquishing all connections with her home country, and meets King Louis XV and her future husband, the Dauphin, at the Palace of Versailles. The young couple is married at once and encouraged to produce an heir to the throne as soon as possible, but their marriage remains unconsummated for an inordinate amount of time.
