Kirsten Caroline Dunst is an American actress born on April 30, 1982, at Point Pleasant Hospital in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. She began her career as a child fashion model and appeared in television commercials, later making her feature film debut with a minor role in Woody Allen's short film Oedipus Wrecks (1988). Dunst's breakthrough role came in 1994, in the horror drama Interview with the Vampire, opposite Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. She played Claudia, the child vampire who is a surrogate daughter to Cruise's and Pitt's characters. The film earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Dunst co-starred in the drama film Little Women (1994) alongside Winona Ryder and Claire Danes. She later transitioned into leading roles in teen films, including Dick, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and Sofia Coppola's drama The Virgin Suicides. After the leading role in the cheerleading film Bring It On (2000), she gained wider attention for her role as Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy.
