The Cockleshell Heroes

During World War II, a daring mission was hatched by Major Stringer of the Royal Marines, who devised a plan to use collapsible canoes to infiltrate an enemy-held harbour and blow up German cargo ships. With the help of his veteran second-in-command Captain Hugh Thompson, Stringer trains a small group of volunteers for the perilous raid, which takes them 70 miles upstream through treacherous waters during harsh December weather. The mission is launched by submarine in HMS Tuna, and although only two men manage to escape, their bravery and sacrifice are remembered long after the danger has passed.
