In a darkly nuanced take on the Western genre, "Posse" (1975) pits two complex figures against each other in a battle of wits and morality. Marshal Howard Nightingale, a U.S. Senator hopeful with a penchant for zealous politics, leads an elite posse to capture notorious outlaw Jack Strawhorn, but their pursuit takes a sinister turn when Nightingale becomes the unlikely victim of his own prey. As the lines between right and wrong blur, the film poses a provocative question: what if the "good guys" are just as bad as the bad guys?
