Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos visit the Isle of the Lost to choose four new villain kids (VKs) to take to Auradon. They pick Dizzy, granddaughter of Lady Tremaine; Celia, daughter of Dr. Facilier; and Squeaky and Squirmy, the twin sons of Mr. Smee. Mal's boyfriend Ben proposes to her, but Audrey seethes with jealousy and steals the Queen's crown and Maleficent's scepter from the museum, gaining magical powers. Mal suggests closing the Isle's barrier permanently to protect Auradon, but Audrey curses Mal with Maleficent's scepter and turns her into an old woman. Mal and the VKs go to the Isle to get Hades' Ember, a powerful artifact that can break the curse. Celia gets Mal into Hades' lair, but he thwarts their effort. He reveals himself as Mal's absentee father and gives her the Ember, warning her not to let it get wet. Mal and the others are intercepted by Uma, Gil, and Harry, who agree to help after Mal falsely agrees to release all the children from the Isle. Audrey crashes Jane's birthday party with a sleeping curse; Chad aligns himself with her, while Jane escapes into the enchanted lake. The group eventually works together to pursue Audrey and break her spell. In the end, Celia drops the Ember in water, turning Ben, Carlos, Evie, and Jay to stone. Mal defeats Audrey, who falls into a deep coma, and convinces Hades to revive her using the Ember. With Ben's and Fairy Godmother's approval, Mal replaces the Isle's barrier with a bridge, merging Auradon and the Isle of the Lost in a new society.
