The Chaperone

In 1922, teen Louise Brooks is invited to study dance at the NYC Denishawn school and must accompany a chaperone, middle-aged Norma Carlisle, on her journey from Wichita, Kansas. The couple's initial strained goodbye sets the tone for their contrasting personalities as they navigate the city together, with Norma conforming to societal expectations while Louise questions everything. As Norma becomes more comfortable in NYC, she begins to challenge her own past and find solace in her roots, ultimately helping Louise reinvent herself as a best-selling writer.
