Lost Horizon

A British diplomat's world-weary escape becomes a seductive trap in Frank Capra's adaptation of James Hilton's novel, as Robert Conway (Ronald Colman) crash-lands in the Himalayas and discovers the idyllic valley of Shangri-La. Protected from the outside world by its mountainous sanctuary, Shangri-La is home to the High Lama and a mystical community that seems both wondrous and threatening. As Conway's initial disdain for his new surroundings gives way to enchantment, he must confront the reality of his own mortality and decide whether to stay or leave this fabled paradise behind.
