The Revolt of Mamie Stover

In 1941, prostitute Mamie Stover is pressured to leave San Francisco by the police. She settles down in Hawaii, hoping to start a new life, where she meets Jim Blair, a successful writer and her only other passenger on a freighter bound for Honolulu. A shipboard romance develops, but their differences eventually tear them apart as they navigate their complicated pasts and conflicting desires.
