The Conformist

A weak-willed Italian man becomes a fascist flunky who goes abroad to arrange the assassination of his old teacher, now a political dissident. Character Marcello Clerici (Jean-Louis Trintignant) is ordered to kill Professor Luca Quadri in Paris. However, after beginning an affair with the professor's wife Giulia (Stefania Sandrelli), Marcello's mission is complicated and leads him down a path of moral crisis.
