In the 1997 thriller drama film Mad City, John Travolta plays Sam Baily, a former security guard who takes his former boss and several children hostage at a museum after being fired. Dustin Hoffman stars as Max Brackett, a local television journalist who becomes involved in the situation and tries to negotiate with Baily.
