Christmas in July

In the 1940 film "Christmas in July", Dick Powell stars as Jimmy McDonald, a department store clerk who is tricked into thinking he has won $25,000 in a coffee company slogan contest. With his newfound wealth, Jimmy and his girlfriend Betty Casey (Ellen Drew) embark on a shopping spree at Shindel's department store, but their joy is short-lived when the truth comes out and they must deal with the consequences of Jimmy's sudden rise to fame. As the story unfolds, Jimmy and Betty learn valuable lessons about the value of humility and the importance of true love.
