Sullivan's Travels

"Sullivan's Travels" is a 1941 American comedy-drama film that follows John L. Sullivan (Joel McCrea), a successful Hollywood director who dons a hobo disguise to gain life experience for his forthcoming film about the downtrodden. Along the way, he meets a poor aspiring actress, The Girl (Veronica Lake), who accompanies him on his journey. When Sullivan loses his memory and ends up in jail as a prisoner on a chain gang, he is forced to confront the harsh realities of poverty and struggle, ultimately leading him to realize that making people laugh can bring joy to those who need it most.
