Robert Greig was a versatile actor who began his career on Broadway in operettas such as Countess Maritza and Animal Crackers, where he famously portrayed the butler "Hives." His early film roles solidified his typecast as a butler or servant, with notable exceptions including Cockeyed Cavalier (1935) and Horse Feathers (1932). Throughout the 1930s, Greig appeared in over 100 films, often alongside renowned comedians like the Marx Brothers.
